(Extracted from http://wiki.mindcloud.org/wiki/Linking ;-D)

This is a basic guide to linking your page. It contains several of the most common & useful forms of links you can use, so you can get your pages connected with no trouble!

The First Steps

Internal Links

name of page

e.g. to link to the page 'Tristan Miller', type:

Tristan Miller

The result: Tristan Miller

NB This is how you make new pages

name you want to appear

e.g. to link to the page 'Tristan Miller', but only want 'Tristan' to appear, type:

Tristan

The result: Tristan

e.g. to get to the page "Tristan Miller" the following work:

Tristan Miller and tristan Miller

BUT Tristan miller or Tristan MillEr don't work

e.g. Both Tristan Miller AND Tristan_Miller will link to the same page.

Wikipedia Links

This is useful if your writings contain concepts that are better explained in an encyclopedia-why not just link it to the knowledge that's already there?

how you want the link to look

e.g. To link to the Wikipedia page on Albert Einstein, but just have 'Einstein' appear in the link, type:

Einstein

The result: Einstein

External Links

How you want the link to appear

Note that this time, instead of a '|', a space separates the URL and the text to appear on the page

e.g. to link to the front page of mindcloud.org, but to have it appear simply as 'Awesome', type:

Awesome

The result: Awesome

Pictures

e.g.

The result: Chicki.jpg

Note that the Embedded Image button will only work for images uploaded to the wiki (you can upload an image to the wiki by clicking on the Upload File link on the sidebar.

Finally...

If you ever get stuck, or want to know how to do something on a wiki page, just take a look at how others have done it. All you have to do is click on the 'Edit' or 'View Source' tab at the top of the page. You can also check out the super resource at the Mediawiki website

Also, there is another short guide which explains the finer processes of editing your page. Between this and investigating other people's pages, you should find everything you need to know.

Have fun!
