Economics

Macroeconomics 2nd edition

Authors; Rudiger Dornbush, Philip Bodman, Mark Crosby, Stanley Fischer, Richard Startz

Lender Dr Boy

Comprehensive book of macoeconomic policy. Goes into detail on the Mundell-Flemming model of macroeconomic policy and is a good lead in text if you've been looking at aggregate supply and demand models. Lacks some detail on the Balance of Payments system but does cover it in rudimentary detail.

lender's opinion:

A good macroeconomics text if you're looking to understand the mundell-flemming model.
If you've done previous study in aggregate supply/demand models then skip the first
five chapters. Beginners can pick up from the start of this book and understand all
the way through to the end aswell (I would say). Last three chapters are interesting
for advanced readers aswell.

Managerial Economics and Organisational Architecture 3rd edition

Authors; James Brickley, Clifford Smith, Jerold Zimmerman

Lender Dr Boy

A decent introduction into firm behaviour and the workings of the microeconomy.

lender's opinion:

A good text. It starts slow building on basic concepts but toward the middle
and end of the book it starts to introduce more advanced concepts worth consideration
8/10

Modern Competitive Analysis 3rd edition

Author; Sharon M. Oster, Oxford

Lender Dr Boy

Teaches fundamental economic analysis of business strategy.

lender's opinion:

Best textbook I've been assigned, statement not qualified. It teaches and applies
the basic economic principles that most business "leaders" fail hard at.
High recommendation to all people interested in analysing business strategy.
10/10

Finance

Principles of Managerial Finance

Authors; Lawrence Gitman, Roger Juchau, Jack Flanagan

Lender Dr Boy

Fundamental concepts of financial analysis, including basic mathematical models and tools

Lender's Opinion;

Good introductory text to finance, recommended first text. Starts with basics
of accounting and accounting ratios before moving into project and investment
analysis and tools. Skip part six, Derivatives are better covered in "international
finance: an analytical approach" and "Fundamentals of investing" whilst mergers/acquisitions
are far better covered in "modern competitive analysis".
8/10

Human Resource Management

Human Resource Management: Strategies and Processes 5th edition

Authors; Alan Nakervis, Robert Compton, Marian Baird

Lender Dr Boy

Purportedly teaches the complexities associated with human resource management in "today's workplace".

lender's opinion:

This textbook was almost complete bullshit. After I read this book I wrote this
to describe its stupidity. The audience of this text is as much a mystery as its dubious mathematics
as it claims to be written to students but seems to be focussed very much on an audience obsessed
with stating the obvious. Unless you're retarded or have an amazing ability to trabslate bullshit into
english then I recommend you not read this book

Management

Management:A pacific rim focus 4th edition

Authors; Kathryn Bartol, Margaret Tein, Graham Matthews, David Martin

Lender Dr Boy

Apparently covers various concepts and challenges facing management

lender's opinion:

I honestly spent only about three weeks in this subject. My opinion was (and still is) that
the subject would have been a complete waste of time as the lectures and tutorials contained
topics which were exclusively bullshit. I haven't read most of the text but it seems like I
wasn't missing anything
