What's going on here?

ProtoMindcloud is a website where you and everybody else can create and edit webpages at any time. This open ended approach means that the content is always changing; the website evolves according to the whims of its contributors...it is what you call a wiki.

As such, there are no specific instructions for how to actually use this site. You may just want to browse, observing the creative output of the other users. Your user page might be a diary, or a hub connecting your readers to a vast network of articles and media you've added over time. You may be interested in driving the technological or aesthetic progress of the site, or collaborating with other like-minded people to work incredible wonders. The possibilities are endless - remember that this is not just a website but it is a communication medium, allowing human minds to come together to precipitate culture, ideas, debate and generally have a good time.

Getting started

There are a few guides here that may be of use. A good place to trial the knowledge gleaned from these texts is the Sandbox, which is a place for rampant experimentation. You could even make your own personal sandbox(es), just for YOU, if you're into that sort of thing. Also, if you create an account on this site, you'll end up with a user page. This is a good place to begin your wiki adventures - your own page is the least imposing place to put your own ideas.

Alternatively, if you are more of a browser than a contributor, you could just leave the occasional comment on the discussion page associated with each page. This can be accessed by clicking on the discussion tab at the top of the page.

Also - if you don't understand some bit of gibberish in one of the articles, edit the page and put double square brackets ([[ ]]) around whatever individual terms you want explained. Sooner or later somebody will manufacture pages to inform you about their disgusting terminology...

Anyhow, enjoy!

Rules

There is one important rule:

This sounds pretty vague, and the statement will be refined as time goes on. However, the effect of the rule will remain the same...people violating this rule will have their offending content removed, and, in more extreme and exotic cases, be blocked from contributing to ProtoMindcloud.

Finally

With that out of the way, the wiki is yours to explore. Don't be afraid to contribute anything, anywhere. The Mindcloud will appreciate your unique take on the Universe.
