Mindcloud Organisation
The Mindcloud Organisation now exists beyond the abstract ponderings of its founder.

Function, and role of the Mindcloud Organisation
The role of this body will is to:
- Maintain the Mindcloud website, a central project of the Organisation.
- Provide a real-world front to the organisation.
- Oversee and organise Mindcloud projects and events.
- Approach organisations for sponsorship and support.
- Ensure the financial stability of Mindcloud and its projects, at the moment this means paying the hosting and domain registration bills, and establishing policies that will prevent petty power struggles and huffiness across the wiki.
- Ensure that Mindcloud remains in good legal standing.
Administration of the wiki
Becoming an administrator on Mindcloud Wiki requires that you are also involved with the Mindcloud Organisation (with the exception of one or two people who managed to get in before the Organisation was established). This is to prevent all kinds of malarkey; restriction of the number of admins means less spurious page deletions and all of that nonsense, while at the same time preventing spontaneous formation of petty power-cliques who all enforce their version of the rules. See Wikipedia for an example of this effect.
Still, the Mindcloud Organisation will never attempt to dictate what can exist on this site, so long as it falls within the very broad site policy. Where a breach of policy is made, it is the Organisation's job to follow it up. The decisions of the Organisation in these matters are entirely subject to appeal - dealing with such appeals rationally and sensitively is another task the Organisation faces.
The Mindcloud Organisation is also responsible for the Main Page, Content Library and various other project pages. Administration of the 'behind-the-scenes' parts of the wiki is another task, which includes, amongst other things, upgrading the wiki software to improve the user experience. In both of these areas, suggestions from users are invited.
Structure
Structure of the Mindcloud Organisation is currently very ambiguous, consisting of generalists who can perform a variety of tasks according to necessity. Ideally at this time there would be five humans running the Organisation; we are still looking for people who are interested in the 'whole Mindcloud thing', and who are able to regularly set aside some time for it.
The Mindcloud Organisation is, at this time,
Eventually the plan is to form an Incorporated Association, basically an 'official' not-for-profit group in the eyes of the law. A democratic framework is a must for this. This designation would also etch the not-for-profit ideal of the organisation into stone, protecting it from being used in a jerk-like manner. A constitution protecting the relationship between the organisation and its projects would also be a feature of this transformation.\
We are hoping to do this in the next few months, with an off-icial Mindcloud Launch being planned for November to celebrate and to kick off the project in the public eye;
Get involved
If you are interested in being a part of the Mindcloud Organisation, contact me(Tristan Miller) as soon as you can. I would like to get together and discuss our ideas about this project at the nearest possible juncture.
We are developing an Organisation website which will be live within the next two weeks - hopefully this will answer a few questions that you might have...
