Mindcloud talk:About

(Extracted from http://wiki.mindcloud.org/wiki/About ;-D)

Once Mindcloud.org is ready for launch, the possibility of sponsorship is open. Perhaps getting slightly ahead of the game, I've been looking at various organisations who might be happy to aid us. One of these is Coopers, who would be useful if we had some sort of event on, in the form of torrents of quality beer perhaps. Also I've been looking at South Australia's Strategic Plan, items of which seem to bear some resemblance to the aims of Mindcloud. In both cases there are all sorts of 'values alignments' which means there is some common purpose behind the whole thing...

Of course it would be wise to have the Mindcloud Organisation established first, plus some specific reasons for sponsorship probably contained in some sort of cohesive proposal first.

This will be better than Underverse if you drop that thing about everything thst gets uploaded here turns into free domain information. Then people will bring their A-Game to this site without having to worry about Phil using their work as a bargaining chip when trying to milk a buck out of Juvio and like corporations.

Also, no "collective" power structure. You should work out who's running this show earlier rather than later.

The license is pretty specific about the information being used in a commercial fashion. Have a look at it: there's a link at the bottom of this page: and tell me what you reckon.

I think the non commercial bit in the license is fairly sound but I think the real clincher is people's lack of control over their work. Perhaps we could employ two licensing methods simultaneously where the copyrighted material is marked with a template to show that it was uploaded under a different license, which assumes we can use two licensing methods simultaneously where creative commons is the default and some other rights protection license is used where otherwise specified. A problem with this may arise where material is uploaded first under the commons license and then later adds the copyrighted template. Then again the commons license does seem to shout "NO PHIL YOU CAN'T DO THAT" over and over again so it's probably better to stick by that one than create complex legal frameworks.
