Open Letter to the BBC

Work In Progress.

Hello BBC,

We are a group of concerned Australians regarding the licence fee you collect from the citizens of the United Kingdom. Under the Communications Act 2003 you are required by law to obtain licence fees from every viewer.

In Australia this licencing fee was abolished in 1974. We feel that it is time for the UK to also abolish this fee.

In Australia our government does not collect individual licencing fees for devices from citizens. Our ABC is funded by the federal government from taxatio n revenue. No individual is identified as being an ABC viewer, and ABC does not keep records of the viewers.

From an external perspective, Australia, the UK appears to be approaching an Orwellian state. Record numbers of cameras and data agencies collecting information from the people appear in Britan. The fact that you enforce your licencng fee payment by both outsourcing its collection to a private company and using intrusive detection techniques from vehicles is outragous.

There is already too much information being gathered on everyone, please lets not gather more for the sake of a trivial funding arrangement.

Abolish the BBC licence fees.
