SC:NOT

This page is dedicated to real world examples of people misappropriating scientific terms, theories, research and jargon in order to lend credence to their half baked explanations of phenomena, usually with a view to advance their own (mostly religious, sometimes political, often both) agendas. The name states the nature of this section perfectly well, it's a record of what is NOT SCIENCE and hence SC:NOT (pronounced Schnott). All SC:NOT articles will contain six questions to be asked of the alleged pseudoscience brought before SC:NOT. These questions are (in order):
WHO: is the crackpot putting forward the SC:NOT?
WHERE: is the crackpot located?
WHAT: is the specific area of REAL science being attacked?
HOW: is this crackpot able to convince proles of the validity of his SC:NOT? Includes analysis of the (un)scientific method used to create the fallacy and its misinterpreted results. For SC:NOT book reviews this section should include a synopsis followed by a chapter by chapter breakdown of the claims made and their fallacious nature.
WHEN: did the crackpot unleash the SC:NOT? How many times has such an idea already been analysed in detail and rightly dismissed by REAL scientists?
and perhaps most importantly:
WHY: is this crackpot peddling such nonsense? What agenda is the crackpot pushing? This is the only section of an SC:NOT article which calls for some speculation, provided it is based on sound logic.
