Sharehouse Seminar Series

[edit] General idea

On a regular basis, the occupants of a sharehouse, along with any other people who might be interested, gather to hear one of the people give a presentation/lecture on a topic of interest. There is no restriction on the subject of the presentation; the speaker could rap about something they just found out recently, a topic they've studied for years, a weird thought they had, a project they're working on, ANYTHING. They could even present a poem or song if they felt like it.

This forum is an opportunity for everyone to get to know their own stuff better and to get better at talking about their interests in an entertaining way. It's also a chance for reasonable people to gather and discuss strange new ideas.

Wow!

[edit] Hurried example of how it may go down

I see it going down like this:

One night on a weekly basis is deemed the night to do this thing on. At each gathering, the next week's speaker(s) is(are) determined, although their topic may not yet be known. The presentations run for up to fifteen minutes, after or during which questions may be asked. The whole thing degenerates into general lounging about and drinking/smoking behaviour. Nobody is asked to talk about their feelings. The idea is to unnaturally get together for the seminar and then naturally chillax and think about things.

Once the next speaker has worked out what they want to do, it's their choice whether they reveal this ahead of the presentation.
