Mainpage, SPAZ
NEWER
Leo's Sandbox 2 is getting good.
Also need to make it more clear that different skins can be chosen.
NEW
Featured content would be good on front page, too...
old
I've just found out a way to tell the wiki to point to a different file for the mainpage. I was thinking of making some crazy front-page interface, that makes it easier to navigate, find out what's new etc, etc, etc, etc. Might be good to do something different with the mainpage.
- Would be good if we could spaz up the main page a bit, for exmple with featured articles, etc, to make it more attractive to people who come straight to the front. Also why are we still using proto-mindcloud? I mean, it is buried under several layers in terms of a google search. It has plenty of content already. Especially if we are thinking in terms of clubs, we should think about making it accessible and fun, so that people we give colourful flyers and buttons to are encouraged. I mean in preparation for o-weeks. See Organisation:University Clubs for more discussion. --Aurgi
- Yeah, I was thinking about that. I have two ideas on how to get beyond ProtoMindcloud. One is to simply have "mindcloud.org" redirect here, and replace all instances of ProtoMindcloud with Mindcloud. The other idea was to make a new wiki at mindcloud.org, copy this one's articles to it, and stick to the goddamned original plan. When I get back from Melbourne tomorrow I will look at ways to spaz the mainpage. I'll be free of my parents' paranoia about their download quota at that time. Tristan Miller 15:44, 28 January 2007 (PST).
- I'll also find a way to stop the timestamp from displaying in PST. GMT would be more useful.
What is PST exactly?
- I think it stands for Pacific Standard (or Summer) Time - might be for the West Coast of the USA.. Tristan Miller 05:03, 29 January 2007 (PST)
But you can set what time zone is displayed in the user properties...
...but it affects recent changes, while the timestamps keep displaying in PST. Dammit
Would be good if you could shorten the date format too, prob dd/mm/yy. It's too long winded now, and then it gets ignored.
Subscribing to RSS feed of recent changes:

...wazzaaa?
Hot damn! I can't work it out. I might upgrade the whole Mediawiki install over the next couple o days and see if that fixes the durn thing. Meamwhile, enjoy this brief photographic interlude (phinterlude?):

HAY GUYZ WHAT'S GOING ON IN THIS THREAD
Should we start making categories and stuff soon, before this gets out of hand and we have to spend months sifting through hundreds of brainfarted articles in order to get them sorted? Also, how do you make categories? I want to start a series of articles based on the Monsters of the Internet, with stats, and a Category would be a good way to organise such. What is the deal with the anti wikipedia and web 2.0 agenda on this site?
There's no deal as such, it's a function of the current users' hostility towards the circle-jerking that accompanies such things. Also, this site has no particular Agenda. Nothing said by anyone here should be taken to represent the views of anyone else who posts here, and if what is said by someone irks you then go right ahead and irk them back.
