Why downgrade?

Web 2.0 is a buggy release. It is full of Neckbeards and assorted jerks who pretend that their avoidance of the Sun is somehow more important than actually participating in society. These cretins whip themselves up into a frenzy of circle-jerking, culminating in articles like this, this and this.

To correct this problem, a modicum of sanity must be restored to the Interweb by downgrading it to Web 0.5 (ca 1997 release). This will make it unpleasant for the aforementioned wankers who get "famous" through being sanctimonious fucks, and hopefully they will just leave.

There seems a mentality today that if a website doesn't adhere to the fashionable thing of looking like a pile of corporate art, it's ugly and stupid and nobody should go there. This is just an effect of Earth Government's continued attempts to make everything grey and without flavour. The kind of simplicity found on standard-issue 404 error pages is refreshing in today's world of slick 400MB Flash interfaces; amongst the Soviet-style architecture of 'professional-looking' sites, the naively garish and animated GIF-laden page is a welcome splash of colour.
